Coastal and Harbor Surveillance
Harbour, Seaport and Naval Base Protection
Meridian’s G-WASP (Ground-Wide Area Surveillance Platform) and C-WASP (Coastal-Wide Area
Surveillance Platform) technology can be integrated to provide Harbour, Seaport and Naval
Base Protection. It’s sophisticated high resolution radar allows it to detect small boats
moving alongside moored ships, jetties and other static structures.
In the maritime environment where the threat is from small boats approaching larger high
value boats and ships or operating in littoral waters Meridian’s surveillance capability is
able to maintain 24/7 over watch and provide continuous uninterrupted protection. As the
G-WASP and C-WASP surveillance systems are able to operate over land as well as sea, it
provides 360 degree all round protection detecting intrusion over land or sea and once a
threat is identified it is tracked by either its radar or with a long-range camera and
thermal imager (electro-optic) systems. This allows for tracking and identification of the
threat while friendly forces are guided to intercept and deal with the threat.
When and if infiltration is achieved through the outer layer of coastal defence, chokepoint or other strategic waterway the agile C-WASP or man-portable technology can be utilised quickly to electronically secure an area of water, swamp or navigable channel containing the threat or intrusion until reaction forces can conduct search and destroy/arrest operations.

Coastal Surveillance
Where the requirement is for protecting a strip of coastline G-WASP and C-WASP can again be
deployed to complement each other and ensure infiltration from the sea or waterway is
detected, identified and intercepted. The systems can be utilised quickly to secure a strip
of coastline and unprotected coastal region covertly as part of an interdiction operation
against terrorists, criminals or human traffickers or in support of Special Forces.
C–WASP is designed to overcome threats in shallow waters and will provide over-watch
capabilities for national forces operating in shallow or deep littoral waters. Integral to
any defensive concept of operations C-WASP will allow these forces to conduct pre-emptive
manoeuvre by exploiting real-time data fusion to enhance detection, localisation,
classification, identification, tracking of an enemy seeking to infiltrate through
unprotected coastal regions and result in their interdiction, capture or destruction. C-WASP
will provide a flexible capability to detect, track, and destroy small-boat threats rapidly
and has a role to play in modern day maritime interdiction operations (MIOs) or in support
of Special Operations Forces (SOF). ‘Swarming’ refers to the tactic of using a large numbers
of fast inshore attack craft, typically from multiple directions and with little
coordination. C-WASP can differentiate between fast moving RIB and smaller jet-ski craft and
its highly capable situational software can individually designate, track and coordinate
intercept of these methods of infiltration.
C- WASP
C-WASP provides a rapidly deployable trailer-based Coastal protection system that can be
towedor airlifted by a wide range of vehicles. C-WASP can be deployedand operational in
less than 30 minutes of arrival at a coastal location requiring a surveillance and
protection capability.
C-WASP continuously records the output from the TV and TI cameras, the GIS information and the metadata, such as date, time and location. This means that meaningful information can be retained for use at a later date.C-WASP is extremely modular, whicheases replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRU) and also eases future upgrades of the system with products such as Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) and effectors.
