FOB Security and Observation Post
Meridian’s solutions provide long-range area surveillance for bases in remote areas where
traditional security infrastructure is not available. A typical FOB surveillance system
comprises of a G-WASP-25 system with radar, long-range camera and thermal imager
(electro-optic system), other remote sensors, power generation and an integrated command and
control (C2) suite.
Situational Awareness is key to effective FOB surveillance, any movement is instantly
detected and displayed on the C2 system. Operators know immediately that something or
someone has entered the area and can react instantly, receiving a constant series of
position updates as the target moves.
Radars, cameras, thermal Imagers and other remote sensors can provide an operator with a snapshot of what is happening at any one moment. Whilst this is useful, the experienced operator will know that the flow of people, vehicles and even wildlife through an area will change dynamically throughout the day and night, forming a 'Pattern of Life'. Our C2 software analyses the Pattern of Life (PoL) using inputs from radar, cameras and other sensors. The PoL application is then able to spot divergence from the norm and alert the operator.

Mobile Force Protection
Meridian’s G-WASP, being agile with a rapid in action time, is an ideal solution for convoy
and patrol protection where minimal infrastructure is available, such as power and remote
communications. G-WASP can be towed with the patrol and provide an electronic envelope
around the temporary base.
For checkpoint security, the G-WASP sensor capability looks into the distance and provides
the checkpoint security staff with an early warning of incoming vehicles, especially those
approaching with excess speed. Ground based radar instantaneously measures the speed of
targets that it detects; this can be used to automatically trigger alert zones to warn the
checkpoint staff..
Defence
It is common practice to use ground surveillance radars and long-range optics to monitor
land ahead of the current operating position to ensure that there is no undesirable
activity or likely security threats.
The capability offered by G-WASP adds unpredictability by offering rapid redeployment of sensors, therefore keeping the enemy on the backfoot.
